3cupsfresh strawberriesblueberries, or raspberries (or combination), or frozen berries, thawed and drained, 750 ml
1tspgrated lemon rind5 ml
1 1/2cupsall-purpose flour375 ml
1 1/2tspbaking powder7 ml
A grating of fresh nutmeg
Combine the berries, water, sugar, and lemon rind in a saucepan over moderate heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring often.
Meanwhile, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a mixing bowl.
Stir in the buttermilk; do not over mix.
Drop the batter over the berries, making 8 dumplings.
